Chapter History

The Theta Mu Chapter at Oregon State University was chartered in 1918. As one of the first organizations to build a physical house on the Oregon State Campus, Tri Delta was able to build a home for the purpose of housing sorority women. Throughout the years we have remained in that house, and today, with minor additions, we happily house 46 women in our home.

Greek life has changed since Tri Delta first came to Oregon State’s campus. Gone are the days of having phone duty, and staying in to answer the landline telephone for your sisters. With the growth in membership, we now house our sophomore and junior pledge classes. If space permits, some of our freshman pledge class may live in as well. With advancements in technology, we also got rid of wake-ups, and allow alarms on the sleeping porch [which may seem small, but with this change went a part of the historical experience of living in Tri Delta].

Since taking on St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as our National Philanthropy, Theta Mu has hosted a variety of events to raise money for the kids at St. Jude. During Fall term Tri Delta hosts Delta House of Pancakes, a breakfast buffet with all of the proceeds going to St. Jude. Our winter philanthropy, Delta Dunk, a basketball tournament in which other Greek houses compete all to benefit St. Jude. Lastly Spring term brings Trideltalon, which is a play on a triathlon and features lots of fun yard games.

With over 100 years of history on campus at Oregon State, Theta Mu holds many memories for so many alumna. Tri Delta at Oregon State aims to keep growing its sisterhood and to creating even more life long friendships and memories, for another 100 years.
